New Field App Improves Data Analysis

Measuring the impact of place management services along the busy streets of Midtown Manhattan.

By Ginkgo

Earlier this year Ginkgo began working on a new mobile app with the Grand Central Partnership (GCP). The new app is designed for the organization's Public Safety Officers to enable them to report on conditions and services around the Grand Central Business Improvement District, which includes over 280 blocks in Midtown Manhattan. The app was launched in June as an “add-on” to the Grand Central Partnership’s Ginkgo account. This integrated approach enables data collected through the app to be centralized with other records mapped and managed in Ginkgo for greater analysis of real estate and public spaces in the Business Improvement District (BID). Grand Central Partnership’s service area is one of the largest and busiest BIDs in the world.

New GCP Field App developed using AppSheet and integrated with Ginkgo.
"The app that Ginkgo developed for us helps us keep Midtown East clean, safe, and thriving by allowing us to quickly and efficiently respond to conditions across the district. We are also now able to better document our impact and make more data-driven operations decisions." Fred Cerullo, President/CEO, Grand Central Partnership.

The Grand Central Partnership has been a proactive steward of streets and other public spaces around the BID since the organization was founded in 1988. The collaboration between GCP and Ginkgo expands on an app GCP launched in 2015 to track conditions related to its thousands of streetscape assets around Midtown East,  including benches, bike racks, planters, light poles, and other assets. The new app allows GCP to track a wider universe of neighborhood conditions and allows clear metrics to be reported back to government partners and local stakeholders, such as property owners and businesses. In addition to the mobile app, a custom dashboard was also released to enable the organization to monitor progress and spot trends in the data with ease.

"When I started working at GCP, we logged conditions in a paper memo book. The app is a huge improvement, and it's very easy to use." Kenneth Lind, Field Operations Supervisor, Grand Central Partnership.

Both of these products were made possible through Ginkgo's seamless integrations with Google Workspace products. Visit Ginkgo.city/addons to learn more about available add-ons for your Ginkgo account.
