While the primary audience for Ginkgo is intended to be Place Managers, anyone that needs to access and manage data about a neighborhood area or group of areas in their city can find tools in Ginkgo to help with their work.

‍‍Ginkgo is for anyone involved with building cities. While the primary audience for Ginkgo is intended to be Place Managers, anyone that needs to access and manage data about a neighborhood area or group of areas in their city can find tools in Ginkgo to help with their work.

What is Place Management?

‍‍Ginkgo is designed to optimize how cities adopt and operate their place management work. Place management is a term used to describe the management of public spaces like sidewalks, plazas and parks, in order to improve the conditions of these spaces and attract more people to a neighborhood.

How does Ginkgo help place management organizations improve neighborhoods?

‍‍Ginkgo centralizes all of the records place managers need to track in order to measure the impact their team has on a neighborhood service area, such as a Business Improvement District (BID). Without the ability to track and measure the changes over time, place managers run the risk of being disbanded by the property owners that volunteer to be taxed every year in order to fund the place management org's assets and operations.

What if my neighborhood does not have a place manager yet? Can Ginkgo help?

Yes, Ginkgo can help regardless of whether you already have a place management organization set up for your neighborhood. In fact, setting up a database with an inventory of properties, contacts, assets and issues is typically the first step to forming a place management organization.
